A space for third culture kids broadly defined

Submissions

We publish writing, visual art, photography, and video by third-culture kids: students living, or preparing to live, in a country other than the one on their passport.

Submissions are free.

What we accept

Visual Art

Drawing, painting, mixed media, photography, collage. JPG or PNG, at least 1500px on the longest side, under 15MB per file. Up to 5 pieces per submission.

Photography (JPG, at least 1500px on the longest side, under 15MB per file. Up to 8 photos per submission (single images or a short series).

Poetry

up to 5 poems per submission, no individual length limit.

Personal Essay / Creative Nonfiction

up to 2,500 words.

Short Video / Film

Up to 5 minutes. Upload as an unlisted YouTube or Vimeo link (please don't send raw video files).

Fiction

Up to 3,000 words

Who can submit

Middle school, high school students, and college freshmen and sophomores.

Anyone currently attending school in a country different from the one they were born in.

Anyone not yet abroad but actively preparing for international middle school, high school, or college (applications, test prep, language study, or research).

Formatting

Written work: Times New Roman or Arial, 12-point, double-spaced, submitted as a Google Doc link with commenting access, a Word doc, or a PDF.
Include a short bio (2–3 sentences) with your submission: your grade or year, where you were born, and where you currently live or are headed. This helps us place your work in context for readers — you can write it playfully; it doesn't need to sound like a resume.
Titles are required for all written and visual work.

Rights & Simultaneous submissions

You keep full ownership of your work. Publishing with us gives Both/And first publication (online) rights only; all other rights stay with you.
Simultaneous submissions (sending the same piece elsewhere at the same time) are fine — just let us know right away if it's accepted somewhere else so we can withdraw it.
